Applause applause applause! Now I know how to get Raviv to wear his headgear, all thanks to the Picture Company!
Last Tuesday, the Ladaga family plus new Yaya Jocel went to Alabang Town Center for pictorial at the Picture Company. This is because:
- We have to claim our free portraits for our birthday months
- To have new photos for Raviv’s Powerpoint Presentation (can’t make full-blown AVP’s yet) on his birthday.
Our photographer’s name was…uhh, I forgot! But she was perky and had a colegiala accent. She is, by far, the most pleasant photographer from the Picture Company. She was all smiles and bubbly (we really didn’t like our photographer at the Greenbelt branch because she was too malamya and looked soooo clueless! I actually didn’t like any of her photos of us). Anyway, from the beginning, I told Happy Photographer (HP) that I’d like my son to have photos wearing his costume. I also told her I’ve been frustrated making him wear it (as in! I instructed Raviv’s nannies to always put headgear on to his head so he’d get used to wearing one…I told them to be more stubborn: when Raviv removes it, they should automatically put it on back and just keep on doing it. They tell me Raviv gets mad at them–shouts and growls and frowns at them when they do it). HP told me that it’s normal, and that the secret is to put the headgear when baby is preoccupied. Honestly, I doubted her suggestion but I thought to myself, “Bahala ka!”
First, she told us to have our family picture. Guess what our motif was!
It’s plaid! This time, we are the checkered family! The night before this pictorial, I wanted us to wear yellow, but then upon inspecting Raviv’s wardrobe, I realized he doesn’t have a yellow polo or polo shirt! Then I decided on white (although I wasn’t very keen on this because this is practically the Pambansang Kulay ng Family Pictures), but then I didn’t like any of my white blouses. Then it was supposed to be that Randy would wear blue, I’d wear yellow and Raviv would wear green (blue + yellow = green! O divah creative si Nanay Dew?) But then Randy grumbled that his blue polo shirts were either worn out or already too big for him (he always rubs it into my face that he has lost weight!) And then I thought of just plaid. Unique naman, although I regret not making Raviv wear a better plaid polo shirt (on our way to Alabang, there was heavy traffic Los Banos pa lang. On the side of the road was an ukay store selling a really nice plaid polo for a baby! I almost jumped off the car and bought it). Anyway, HP was all praises for my little boy: “Ang pogi!”, “Ang cute!”, “Ang bilis patatawanin!”, “Happy baby!” Of course, these comments warmed my heart even though I know that there’s a chance that she was just flattering us.
Here is a photo of father and son:
And now, of me and my unico hijo:
And after our family shots, we changed Raviv’s clothes–we put on his lion costume (there was another lion costume at the Picture Company but I wouldn’t fit my healthy boy, try as we may). Then, as he was preoccupied with crawling on the white cartolina, I slowly put the headgear on to his head just as HP suggested and…voila!!! He did NOT remove it! He just kept on crawling and playing!
At this point, however, he was no longer in the mood for photoshoots. He just wanted to play and no longer responded to the sounds that, just earlier, made him smile broadly. We were saying silly things, making sounds, singing, and HP even played Twinkle Twinkle on the background, all to no avail. I truly admired HP because she was so patient and was still perky even though we (Randy, I, and even Yaya Jocel) were tired. But patience is a virtue and Rome wasn’t built in a day, so we thought. Then, we realized that it was way past his lunch time and my voracious eater must be hungry! We fed him milk and then when he finished a bottle we eventually got smiles from him:
Anyway, I’m so happy about this! I’m no longer worrying that much about his costume…timing lang! Moreover, I also bought two pairs of safari terno for him (Kim Atienza polo + matching cargo shorts). I wish I could upload photos of the two so I could ask you to choose which one he will use, but my card reader is not working. At least, one of the biggest concerns I mentioned on my 26 Days To Go…blog entry has already been answered!
Tell me what you think!
