Happy New Year everyone! Sorry for posting an entry just now—I was too busy in Mindanao during our vacation, plus my parents’ house there has no Wifi. I know you’re waiting for my report about Raviv’s party, but let me skip that first because it’s going to be quite long. Instead, let me do a product review first 🙂
When I got pregnant, my mineral make-up (and so many other things!) suki Candice Cocuaco (whom I met at GirlTalk) introduced me to pocket diapers. At first, I was wondering what it was that she was describing to me…I couldn’t quite fathom what it was, but she kept on raving about these pocket diapers. She promised me that once I learn my baby’s gender, she would send me one as a gift to my baby.
Then when I told her I was having a boy, she immediately sent fetus Raviv the pocket diaper that Raviv was wearing when this picture was taken (his first visit to The Picture Company):
I love this pocket diaper, that its design was even the theme/motif of Raviv’s dedication (“binyag”).
Tatay, an advocate of fighting global warming, also liked it. A pocket diaper, by the way, is a cross between the traditional washable lampin cloth and a disposable diaper. Like cloth lampin, it is washable; like a disposable, it can withstand several bouts of urination sessions.
So I ordered two more from Candice. Each pocket diaper from her cost me more or less P400, and hers includes two inserts (the inserts absorb the urine; you can replace an insert with another when the latter gets soaked, as long as there’s no poop yet) per diaper.
After some time, Yaya Isay requested me to buy more pocket diapers for Raviv because of…guess what! Because Raviv’s cousin Yoona has seven cute pocket diapers (alam naman ninyo how Yaya Isay is so competitive, bawal malamangan ang alaga niya)! My sister-in-law Ruth told me she bought them online from Baby Jill. The name rang a bell in my head, because I have actually inquired from that company before. I just got turned off because: 1) The contact number on its Multiply website is not active; and 2) On my first email, it took the people behind it about 2 weeks to answer, and then never replied on my response to its response. But Ruth told me to try again, because her transaction went smoothly. In fact, they even gave her 3 free diapers because the shipping of her orders got delayed. Because Yoona has 7 pocket diapers, she gave 1 to Raviv. I love them because the designs are really cute, as in! Other pocket diapers kasi have simple designs. Plus those similar to Candice’s are super expensive!
And so I ordered 6 pocket diapers: 3 for Raviv and another 3 to be given as a gift to my kababata‘s new baby. I asked them to customize the size of those for Raviv, because the one Yoona gave Raviv (using their default size) is almost masikip, eh I’m planning to use it until Raviv is 2.5 years old para sulit. I patterned it from the one from Candice, because its size is better. The make is also better, but those from Candice have simple designs.
My transaction with them went smoothly this time, because I got an active mobile number. I learned not to rely on email, because they’re not very diligent in responding to emails.
By the way, here are the pocket diapers I ordered:
Those at the top (NBA, Bart Simpson and Superman) are Raviv’s, while those unopened are the gift I gave to the daughter of a good friend of mine.
Aren’t they cute? The designs you see are what you will see on your baby’s butt.
The ones I ordered come with only 1 free insert/diaper. Yaya Isay told me that the inserts from Candice were more absorbent and bigger, though. Although I think you could get inserts with better quality but you have to pay
a tad more.
Overall, I like the Baby Jill pocket diapers. They’re cheap and the designs are soooo cute! Yaya Isay was also very happy when my orders arrived. In fact, she immediately asked Yoona’s Yaya Tet:
Yaya Isay: Tet, ilan ang kay Yoona?
Yaya Tet: Pito.
Yaya Isay (after immediately having a mental recap of Raviv’s pocket diapers…and then smiled and said): Ah pito na rin ang kay Biboy! Haha naabutan na niya si Yoona!
Tell me what you think!
