Yesterday was quite a day for me. First, Randy and I took Raviv to Children’s House Montessori to inquire about their toddler classes. I was told that the minimum age they accept is 2 years old, because their program is already structured. When they asked how old Raviv was, I realized that that day was exactly the day Raviv turned 19 months! My, I forgot! Used to be that I celebrate his monthly birthday.
Anyway, aside from looking around for a toddler school for Raviv, I led my Victory Small Group yesterday as well. It was heart-wrenching to listen to the woes of one of the members. I felt really sorry for her that when we were praying for her, I just found myself speaking in tongues!!! Grabe, as I was doing it I was surprised and happy! I’ve wanted that spiritual gift for a loooooong time and when I wasn’t stressing about it, it happened! Thank you God!
After my Victory Group meeting, I almost flew back home because I had another meeting, this time with my BT@20: Going Neh-she-nuhl actors. I hosted dinner, and then after the delicious meal (so they said), we went don to run through our lines for our short skit. Though we were serious in practicing, we can’t help but laugh now and then. I swear, BT@20: Going Neh-she-nuhl won’t disappoint (so I urge you readers, go buy your tickets now!!!)
So let’s cut to the chase–this is what I wore yesterday in accomplishing all those tasks:
I just love how I was bold enough to mix green and magenta! I’ve had this blouse since 2006, and I think I’ve only worn it once because it makes my stomach look big when tucked out. I didn’t have the heart to throw or give it away because I love its color and decollete details. It just sat in my closet all these years.
As for the skirt, I’ve had it since summer and attempted to wear it several times in one of my teaching stints. However, I can’t seem to find a top that does it justice. I tried pairing it with neutrals but it felt lacking–somehow the neutrals made it look drab…and what a pity because its rich magenta color is definitely swoon-worthy!
But yesterday, I was determined to wear the skirt. As I was surveying my closet, eureka–the green top! I just felt they’d look right together–although I was still hesitating. But upon seeing the top’s tiny, dainty magenta details on the “V” design on the decollete, I knew I was on the right track! Finally, I was getting bolder when it comes to matching bold colors–the hours I pored over reading In Style and People Magazine Style Watch (the only fashion magazines I read) were paying off! I’ve long graduated from the common fashion faux pas of matching everything using the same color (you know, the typical fashion statement of “fashionable” elderly women: blue handbag, blue shoes, blue blouse, blue earrings; or red bag, red shoes, red bracelet)…I’ve read somewhere that it was too outdated (thus the age fanbase, haha) and I agree.
Anyway, love or hate my daring move in matching the green top with the magenta skirt, I don’t care (at least not yet)! Basta, I felt liberated! 🙂
Tell me what you think!
