When we reached my cousin’s house, her lovely daughters were already dressed! Her eldest Dani was a vampire while her bunso Peyton was an adorable cow. Yoona was the Wicked(ly cute) Witch of the East.
Pasingit: One thing I hate about seeing my Ate Frances is that seeing her makes me think life is unfair! Yes, unfair because she has already had two kids and she’s a tad older than I yet she’s still slim!!! And very pretty. And fabulous. Grrr! Nevertheless, the two of us are living proofs that the Sales clan has an excellent gene pool.
Anyhoo, Ate Frances invited us in first to eat merienda. It also gave the kids a chance to play. It’s so cute that Peyton referred to Yoona and Raviv as “the babies” when she’s not even a year older than them!
At around 4 p.m., we started doing our rounds. Many people commended Raviv’s unique (and definitely ingenious) treats bag (“Oooh now that’s what I call a BAG!”, “Oh how cute!!!”, and “What a nice treasure bag!”).
We even met a home owner who was also dressed as a pirate. Of course, she had her photo taken with Raviv.
When we got really tired, I thanked Ate Frances and told her we were leaving. Randy wanted to drop by Festival Mall to buy some stuff, much to my dismay because I was so so so tired (of course, I carried Raviv most of the time as we went house to house trick or treating). As we were entering Festival Mall, I saw kids in costume with the omnipresent generic pumpkin bucket…CHING!!! They were trick or treating in the mall!!! Did I say I was tired? Well, I take it back! I sprung back to our car and grabbed Capt. Raviv’s cutlass, hat, and treasure chest! I called Randy and asked where he and Raviv and Yaya Margie (new yaya in place of she-who-must-not-be-named) were, but then he said he thought they were with moi!!! We panicked because they were nowhere to be found! Silly us, for we didn’t even get Yaya Margie’s mobile number! I phoned home and asked our other helper to ask all at home if any one of them knew Yaya Margie’s mobile). We went looking and looking, and I was of course thinking of the really bad case scenarios:
- Scenario 1: Meek-looking Yaya Margie was really a member of a syndicate that either kidnaps babies for ransom or sells cute babies to childless couples
- Scenario 2: Yaya Margie was so naive that they’d been victimized by kidnap-for-ransom gangs that prowl in the mall
- Scenario 3: Yaya Margie is actually psychotic and in the brief time she’d been with Raviv she realized she wanted to be Raviv’s mother and she will raise Raviv as her own.
But before I could imagine Scenario 4, whew!!! We saw Yaya Margie carrying Raviv near the entrance of Festival Mall. She said that they followed Tatay Randy but because Randy thought they were coming with me, he walked too quickly and Raviv was sidetracked because he saw, “Body”. Who is Body? Later post na lang, long story. And so they decided to go back where I left them.
Anyway after the drama-rama, of course, I was back on track! Despite my achy feet (which were clad in fab boots, thank you very much for asking) and achy arms (which are still flabby by the way, thanks but no thanks for asking) go go go pa rin ako! Despite the very frequent “Ay ubos na po…” replies I got from the boutiques after my cheery, “Trick or treaaaaat…”, masigasig pa rin ako and the very rare times that we got treats kept me going. Of course, so did when people gushed how adorable the captain of my life was.
And then bummer, my KJ husband joined us and pointed out something:
…sabay litanya ng:
Randy: Huy tama na! Pagod na si Raviv, uwi na tayo!
Me: Hindi, marami pa tayong hindi napupuntahang shops!
Randy: Ay, para ka nang ‘yung mga pulubi na may dalang baby para magpaawa sa pamamalimos! Ikaw ginagamit mo ‘yang ka-cute-an ng anak mo. Ikaw na lang ang nage-enjoy.
Me: (wala nang mapengol. So shaddup na ako)
That was the end of it and finally we were on our way back home. Thank God traffic was moderate again (I actually prayed for this miracle the night before).
And when Capt. Raviv fell asleep, I stole his treasure chest and got the chocolates and candies I wanted and gave the rest to our helpers.
I know–I guess I was the real pirate after all. Hehe.

How about you, how was your first trick or treat? I’d looove to hear it!
