Hellooo Philippines and helloooo world! How was your weekend?
Last week was a great week. First, I got to meet my blogger friends. As usual, walang katapusang chikahan na naman ang nangyari. I’ll blog about that later. Then, on Thursday, we went to Divisoria! Aaaand, I have so many great finds. I’ll also blog about that later, but here’s a sneak preview of SOME of my finds:
Then on the same day, Motherhood came to visit us. She bore good news:
Anak, nanalo ako!
Ano bang napanalunan ni Motherhood? Her research, entitled “Molecular Marker Analysis for Somaclonal Variation of Tissue Culture Derived Bananas” (ano raw?!?) garnered the GOLD or First Place in the 2013 AFMA Best Paper Award Basic Research Category! She said this was a huge deal because the speaker (or was it the judge?) said that to be nominated was already a great honor—all nominees are considered the top scientists in the country. What more ang mga winner monsod ‘di ba? And Motherhood brought the top prize!!! Hindi bronze, hindi silver, kundi gold!!!
I’m so proud of Motherhood. I’m also very happy for her, because the award was so timely. Remember my blog post on her birthday? I mentioned there that some stup*d people were harassing her and fabricating equally stup*d lies about her, as she WAS the vice-president for research of a controversy-laden state university down south. I said WAS, because she had been replaced. Very uncouthly and very unceremoniously at that. Kaya naiinis ako for her.
And then this award for Mom. Whatever lies they fabricated against my mom, fact is, Motherhood is an excellent researcher and scientist. Alam kong alam ng lahat ‘yan. A credible, national award-giving body even established that at the wake of her replacement. Sabi nga ng isa kong friend dun, “Naku, marami nanamang mai-insecure dito!” Of course, they’ll deny that they’re bitter. Ampalaya anonymous. Like what I said,
Ang babaeng napakasalan dahil lang sa pikot ay forever insecure. Ditto for positions that were “secured” because of OA lobbying.
Anyway, tama na. Baka sabihin ako ang bitter. But yes, I admit I am. Not because Motherhood is no longer vice-president (seriously, kebs ko sa position na ‘yun? Hindi ko ikinakayaman o ikinagaganda ‘yun. In fact, because of that, medyo napabayaan nga ‘yung Brain Train franchise nina Motherhood last year sa Mindanao at nagkasamaan pa kami ng loob. And whatever happens, Emma K. Sales is Emma K. Sales. #fact. Hehe) but because how these people have treated Motherhood.
More so, because of how some power-hungry people were willing to sacrifice the education and even safety of their students and peers just for the freakin’ titles. Seriously guys! ‘Yun lang tapos halos araw-araw walang klase mga estudyante? Remember that the university you are “serving” is a state university! Karamihan po ng estudyante ninyo galing sa mahirap na pamilya at inaasahan ng mga magulang nilang magtapos at magkaro’n ng magandang trabaho para umangat. Even you were like that! Isip-isip din about others ‘pag may time!
Sorry nag-rant na ako. Anyway, positive vibes na uli. Again, congratulations Motherhood! Everyone who loves you and believes in you are proud of you.
Winner Monsod and kamukha ni Winnie Monsod! (Motherhood on the day of the awarding)
Tell me what you think!
