The cool kulot
In March this year I had my hair digitally permed at Bang’s Tony and Jackey at Festival Mall in Alabang. I got the straperm package—rebonded at the top and permed at the bottom—which included a hair treatment. There were three types of chemicals to be used, but what was recommended to me was the most expensive (of course, as expected from parlors) as it was the gentlest on hair. The whole package cost P7,000 (before you think I’m too extravagant, FYI I go to the parlor only once a year. Minsan ndi pa. And I do away with the hair treatments and all. Aaand, I have planned this for years…the expensive price tag also made me cringe. But I know unemployed people–students even–getting this. Until now I’m making myself ease the guilt, haha).
I never regretted that. I loved my Bang’s Tony and Jackey digi-strapermed hair! Aaand, the expensive price tag that came along with it was sulit, as my hair was still soft to touch even after undergoing mala-sci fi gadget. I also believe my new hair suited me because my forehead is very broad (just like KC Concepcion, Georgina Wilson and Lucy Torres. Yes, kelangan ko talagang banggitin ‘yan, haha! And yes, I know the similarities end there), and the curls below balance it.
Moreover, I could easily look sexy and glamorous in a jiffy! See, I have this habit of always twisting my hair into a chignon…I’m not the type who could bear wearing my long hair loose the whole day. Maarte ako but it’s always comfort over style for me when it comes to hair…the Philippines is a tropical rainforest near the equator, thus the photons of energy that the sun emits make it easier to be felt. And since my hair is dark it absorbs the photons of energy…in short, naiinitan ang batok ko!
Ergo, my straight hair just develops “bewang” or waves, making it imperfect. Buuut, with digital perm, my curls just become prettier! Aaaand, when I turn my hair loose, I feel like I’m Denise Richards aka Cousin Cassie!
FRIENDS fans, remember this scene?
Matagal ko nang pinangarap ‘yan! In fairness, may napanganga na ako rin ako sa pagganyan ko. The trick is to imagine that there’s also a background music as you let your waves loose, mwehehehe!
So when my hair grew that the curls were so low and were starting to get so loose, I decided to have my hair digitally permed again.
Salot na kulot?
I had my hair re-permed about a month ago at a local salon. I told the hairdresser to curl my hair up to the scalp so it won’t have to re-perm it again. Also, I felt that the top of my hair was too limp.
And now…where are the “After” shots? Naku, ‘wag na! I looked like a cross between a poon and a Japayuki…mala-Kim Chiu in Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?
Yes, parang ganyan talaga! My hair is really thick, by the way, thus the tendency to look like that of a Sto. Nino’s! Moreover, my hair was dry and brittle, unlike with Bang’s Tony and Jackey where my hair felt soft and smooth to touch.
O sige na nga, eto picture…eto lang ha!
By the way, the product used at this local parlor was Schwarzkopf. There was no free treatment, and cost P5,000. IMHO, mas sulit ang sa Bang’s. Moreover, the curls that Bang’s gave me were bigger and sexier. Kasalanan ‘to ni Randy—he was too lazy to drive me to Alabang and wait for hours to have my hair digitally permed at Bang’s again (cue in Randy: Kung tinatiyaga mo kasi ‘yang pagpa-practice mong mag-drive, e di sana hindi ka na dependent sa akin o sa drivers. K, fine. Shaddap na ako).
So for weeks, I wore my hair like this to flatten the top:
But I was not as frustrated as when I get bad haircuts. I knew I just had to be patient—my hair would grow and the curls would eventually get bigger.
And now, one month after, my curls have started to bloom. Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is the public debut of my new curls. Drum rolls please!!!
The curls are still a little wild and are still too tight and small, yet I’m optimistic (crossing my fingers here!) that my curls will get better as time goes by. And yeah, I hope they become soft to touch again.
So whaddya think? Is it a cool kulot or a salot na kulot? Tell me your thoughts below!
On my next post, I’ll share with you how I care for my curls 😉
Tell me what you think!
