Hi you all! I’m so glad to have this time to chat with you again. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you probably know I’m “Stressed Drilon” these days. As in. No glow ako! It’s because we’re swamped with work. Our new Operations Manager and staff are hardworking naman, yet we still have so much load.
But Randy reminded of the positive side: our being swamped with work means that people trust our services. And really, I am very grateful for that trust. In fact, I get very, very upset when we commit a boo-boo. Every boo-boo stresses me out. While some people would take such in stride, I would take them very seriously. As in there are times when I don’t sleep fitfully when I hear a complaint, even when the complaint is unwarranted.
Anyway, part of that heavy load is the fact that we are expanding big-time in Metro Manila this year—our venues there almost doubled from last year (thank you Lord!) Ergo, Randy and I thought of getting a modest condo unit in the Metro. That way, we do not have to waste time looking for decent, inexpensive hotels every time we, our teachers and staff when we have teaching loads in the Metro. A condo unit, we believe, would be a good investment. Even after the summer we would be able to use it. Honestly, one of my frustrations in life (frustrations talaga!) is that sawang-sawa na ako sa Festival Mall at Alabang Town Center. Talaga! Randy is allergic to the MMDA and to traffic so when we shop it usually is just in Alabang. But not all blame lies on him: kahit ako tinatamad just thinking of hurdling a heavy traffic after a tiring pasyal or shopping in the Metro.
Since we were just about a month away from using our future condo, we acted fast and scheduled ocular visits. Inipon namin lahat ng options on this Sunday, and this was what I wore to our condo hunting:
- pink and white checkered blouse: Pretty Giraffe
- shorts: Orange Juice
- sandals: Aldo
- bag: Chanel Cambon Medium Pink Tote
Fink na fink ba? Actually I don’t really like pink, but I read somewhere that wearing clothes and accessories that are bright can actually lift our mood. And in fairness, mukha naman akong fresh sa photos na ‘to. By the time Randy took those photos, pagod na pagod na kami n’yan ! We were already on the road as early as 7:30 a.m.!
The properties we looked are either located in Mandaluyong and Eastwood, as we were looking for a condo that’s accessible to most of our Metro Manila venues. Let me show you some of the units we looked at:
Unit #2: It was nicely furnished and I loved that the condo lobby/reception was elegant. However, I kinda did not like the fact that the occupant was a single male. I dunno—the atmosphere just reeked of testosterone, and I could not help but imagine the owner bringing in a random girl he picked up from a bar. Sorry ang judgmental ko, but that thought made me uneasy.
Unit #3: It was also furnished and very maaliwalas. Almost all furniture looked new, but the overall ambiance lacked a cheery and homespun ambiance. Also, it was studio type. Most ideal for us is a one bedroom unit, so we can at least segregate the males from females.
Unit #5: Ooooh! Randy and Yaya Gigi loved this! It was very spacious and the furnishings were really great! However, this was too big—it has two bedrooms. Nothing wrong with that fact except for that it was also a lot, lot more expensive. As you can see in the photo, I was quite disinterested as I knew we would never buy this unit.
Units #6, 7, 8: As you can see from my expression, not interested. These were brand new units and never been occupied . True, these were one-bedroom units pero grabeng sikip naman at 20+ square meters lang! Plus the layout was poorly made—the partitions and furniture were just too bulky! For someone who loves basements and snug places, the fact that these units made me feel claustrophobic says it’s very cramped.
Unit #9: ‘Wag tayong sobrang ma-excite muna, dahil ang inyo pong nakikita ay model unit. So yes, ang ganda-ganda talaga ng interior design. But then again, model unit nga kasi ‘yan. Anyway, love ko ‘tong condo na to kasi ang ganda talaga ng lobby/reception (better than even those of some 5-star hotels I’ve been to), ng architecture. The main drawback was that in this condo, the only available units have three bedrooms. Though Randy and I were so tempted, we had to remind ourselves that buying a condo unit this big would be impractical. Moreover, unit turnover is March pa raw. I’m afraid na itong March na ‘to ay ma-move pa, e kelangan na namin ito ASAP. And then there’s the issue of its being bare. I will no longer have time to furnish the place. So with a sad heart, we had to let go of this.
Unit #10: Save the best for last! Sana hindi ito mabasa ng ahenteng kausap namin, pero for both Randy and me, thizizit! It’s just right: not too bongga, not too big. Its furnishings are not exactly as classy and as grand as the other units’, but the fact that it’s clean and classy and cheery are enough for us. Naka–drop ceiling pa! It also already has almost all of the furnishings and appliances we will need. Basta tamang-tama lang siya. Both Randy and I felt like we were Goldilocks finding Baby Bear’s things. Ironically, we were not supposed to look at this anymore because we were already tired (we went to some other condominiums pa actually pero either hindi na namin pinasok or ni-picture-an because we knew wala nang pag-asa ‘yung mga ‘yun). But then since this condo is near the condo in Unit #9, pinuntahan na rin namin. And we’re glad we did.
As of the moment, we are negotiating with the unit owner through a broker. Keeping our fingers crossed we would get the deal that we want, because I’m really excited for us to have a place in the Metro! This would mean more pasyal (and shopping!!!), and I could attend more bloggers’ events na!!! Yes, even those scheduled at night. So yahoo!!!
Hay, it’s always so nice chatting with you. Nakakawala ng spirito ni Stress Drilon. Thank you all for reading!!! I’ll keep you posted about the condo. At ‘pag OK na, dalaw kayo at dala kayo ng foods. Mehehe. Lame, I know. Hirap lang i-resist. O siya sige, good night na!!!
Tell me what you think!
