Happy Sunday, everyone! The previous week was a happy one for me because:
- I finally got a new MacBook Air (hello blogging!)
- I got sick on Friday and rested almost the whole day yesterday (and the rest is soon good!)
- I received presents last Thursday!!!
These were simple presents, yet they just made me happy. Presents have that power, you know. Whatever’s inside it doesn’t erase the fact that the giver went out of his/her way to make you feel special.
And speaking of presents, there’s something “not girly” that I’ve long salivated after…it’s a La-Z-Boy recliner.
La-Z-Boy recliners first piqued my curiosity when I saw this episode of Friends:
See how Joey and Chandler loved it so much? Well I thought it was just a guy thing, and at that time I had no intention whatsoever of even dreaming of it.
But everything changed when I gave birth.
I felt miserable throughout my pregnancy. On my first trimester, I was throwing up like crazy. When it was over, my belly swelled and it became difficult to walk and even lie down. Then I gave birth. My body was in pain, I was tired and I was clueless. After a few hours, I was buzzed to go to the hospital’s Huggery to breastfeed my newborn.
I wanted to complain that I was soooo darn tired and I just wanted to lie down. But of course, what kind of mother would I be if I do that, right? So I relented and sat on one of the recliners, which were all La-Z-Boys. The Huggery at the Asian Hospital is full of them.
The minute my pelvis and back touched the couch, I finally understood Chandler and Joey. The feeling was orgasmic! I’ve mentioned over and over again how relaxing the Huggery of the Asian Hospital is, and its choice of recliner is a big part of why I will always want to give birth in that hospital.
I loved it so much that when we got home, no chair ever satisfied me. I would always tell Randy that I never felt “ngalay” when I was breastfeeding at Asian’s Huggery because of the La-Z-Boy. I bugged him over and over to buy a La-Z-Boy, and he seriously contemplated on getting me one. Sadly it didn’t push through as we realized we had a loooot more things to buy and we were overwhelmed.
But until now—even though Raviv is already 5 years old—whenever I see a La-Z-Boy, I would happily plop on it, close my eyes and smile. That’s how much I’m in love wih that recliner. There are La-Z-Boy copycats but they leave so much to be desired: it’s either the leather isn’t sturdy, the neck rest is too forward, the foam is too hard, etc. Iba talaga ang La-Z-Boy.
So when a La-Z-Boy representative contacted me and asked whether I could write about La-Z-Boy, hindi na ako nagpakipot. I need not exaggerate my fondness for the brand.
‘Yun lang, payout isn’t gonna be a La-Z-Boy (sayang!) Hehe.
And so the La-Z-Boy representative sent me these photos. My words may (still) not be enough to convince you how awesome a La-Z-Boy really is, so here are some photos with text descriptions as to why it’s as awesome as I’m saying it is:
First, it’s endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association for its back and lumbar support.
And if you’re a husband whose wife is pregnant or has just given birth, and you claim that you feel sorry for your wife because of what she must have been through… well, stop feeling sorry for her and get her a La-Z-Boy ASAP. I swear she’ll love it more than any jewelry or bag. Look at this:
She deserves that, period.
And when she’s up and about, you yourself could relax your way to good health. This is one gift to your wife that you’ll also love.
Follow your doctor’s orders and recline.
If you want to experience yourself the relaxation and comfort that a La-Z-Boy brings, you may visit the La-Z-Boy Gallery at any BLIMS Fine Furniture showroom and selected dealers for more La-Z-Boy recliners. Then see for yourself. 🙂
