Eating out in Los Baños has always been a problem for our family. Don’t get me wrong–there are so many restaurants in Los Baños that serve delicious food at cheap prices (Check out my Da Best of eLBi post).
It’s just that almost all of these restaurants are cramped. As in siksikan. Example, you need to stand up if the person seated behind you (from a different table) needs to get up. And the “good for 4 people” booth/table is just good for 2 people in other restaurants.
It’s as though they’re telling the customers: “Bahala kayo, basta pang-4 people yan!” 😹
Just like a jeepney driver/dispatcher who always says, “Makikiusod na nga lang ho, sampuan po yan, sampuan yan!” Even if only 1/2 of the last passenger’s butt can fit in. 😹
The seats are also often uncomfortable: no back rest, very narrow, very hard.
In short, most restaurants in Los Baños are no place to have long conversations with friends and family after a delicious meal. I understand this, because it’s probably how these restaurants are able to keep its prices affordable for UP students and yuppies who are their usual patrons.
But for couples and families who want to bond after a meal, or friends who are catching up, these restaurants don’t cut the deal. So thank goodness for One Bonitos Place!
One Bonitos Place
From the people behind Bonitos Bar & Restaurant–the only (?) restaurant in Los Banos that is the total dining experience [great food + great ambiance + clean washrooms with handsoap (not super diluted drippy hand soap, and not Joy Antibac disguising as handsoap) + respects people’s space]–comes One Bonitos Place.
One Bonitos Place is soooo near our place. When it was still being built and I learned it was a buffet restaurant, I got so excited!!! I love buffets (figures. LOL!), but since we don’t go to Metro Manila that often, I am often deprived (deprived talaga! 🤣) of such gastronomic feasts.
On opening night, I forced Randy out of the bed to go. And boy was he glad that he came with me!
(Side story: the night before its opening, my friends and I went there. That’s why I was updated with its opening schedule. I told the chef I’ll be back tomorrow. He probably thought it was just lip service. The following night when the chef saw me, “Uy, nakabalik ka na agad!” Hahaha!)
These are some photos of the buffet spread (sorry for the photos. I was extremely shy to take them. Ninja moves lang)
Here are some of the food served on opening night:
Will I be going back to One Bonitos Place? Of course!!! In fact, I want to right now. I love it there. Proof? Here:
If I have enticed you to visit One Bonitos Place, here are its rates:
And these are some of its guidelines:
- The buffet menu offerings vary daily with the exception of our signature dishes. It will have different cooking and preparation stations from freshly baked breads, garde manger, soups, noodles, dim sums, rotisserie, sauté, grill, and of course, desserts! Different refreshing beverages and Dilmah tea are included in the buffet. Dinner buffet will have more offerings than lunch buffet and weekends and holidays will have better buffet offerings as well.
Operating Hours: Daily 11am – 2pm, 5pm – 10pm
Dress code: smart casual (no basketball shorts, tank tops, rubber slippers/flipflops).
- Address: One Bonito’s Place, Bangkal Road Extension, Brgy. Batong Malake, Los Banos (super duper near Brain Train Center 🙂 )
PS: This is NOT a sponsored post. I was not asked or paid (in cash or kind) by the management of One Bonitos Place to write this post. The owners of One Bonito’s Place are neither relatives nor close friends of Randy or me. I am posting this because I want to support this breakthrough restaurant. It’s time Los Banos has one! 🙂 Plus the fact that it’s just one tumbling away from our place. So everytime I have a craving, gorabelles.
And yeah, because its seats respect my wide hips. 🙂
