January is about to end—the Holidays are truly over, guys. No more excuse to stuff ourselves with food and further delay our diets. As I’ve happily announced on my 1st blogpost of the year, Yes, I lost weight during the last quarter of 2017 through the ketogenic diet. I was such a good girl for at least two months, but caved in to the feasts spread during the Holidays.
Thank God the weight I lost hasn’t returned yet! Maybe because even if I’m already off keto, I have finally become mindful of the food I eat. Unlike before na deadmadela sa carbs content—my motto has always been “Lafang lang nang lafang!”
Because I have never been a dainty eater, dieting is so difficult for me. In fact, Keto is the only diet that worked for me. I’ve tried USANA, Herbalife at kung anu-ano pang diet. But keto is the only diet I have managed to stick to, and the only diet where I was happy with my progress.
How it all began
The first time I heard (at least consciously) of keto was when my friend Aimee posted her progress on Instagram:
Syempre naintriga ako!
But I was seriously encouraged two days after when she posted what she has been eating while on keto:
Keto had me at kare-kare!!!
But my resolve was solidified when I went to Belo. Gravity ang mahal ng mga pampaganda!!! How much more mga pampapayat, right?!? I told myself I’ll save my money for facial treatments. As for my ever growing body, diet and exercise na lang. Dewmaine, hindi mo kailangan gumastos para pumayat. Pero para ma-delay ng pagtanda, kailangan mo si Madame Vicki.
(On hindsight, this was also what Korina Sanchez did: she relied on Belo to make her face look young, but relied on keto to get thin. According to an article I read, her significantly younger-looking face cost Php300,000+++. #MyGahdIHateDrugs Pero my gosh naman, she’s 52 years old already, but look at her!!! She could be my mom but she surely looks younger than me! Aminin natin, ang ganda niya!)
Right there and then, I knew I have decided I’ll be on keto. In fact, when I had lunch at Brothers Burgers after my visit to Belo, I did not eat the hamburger bun. Akalain mo ‘yun?!? I also skipped the ketchup! Then late afternoon on the same day, Raviv begged us to eat at Bon Chon. I skipped the rice and just ate the chicken. Naks!
That, officially, was my Day 1. I had “lapses in judgement”, because I ate two pieces of oatmeal cookies given at Belo, and because the fried chicken at Bon Chon was coated with flour.
On my second or third day, I was very happy because Aimee added me to Keto Mommas, a private chat group on Facebook that we share with our two other friends.
I swear without them, I wouldn’t have lasted even for a week!
And so to “give back”, I’ll be doing this #KayaKeto (a play on “Kaya Ko ‘To and Kaya ang Keto, in case you missed my pun. Aminin natin, ang witty!!! HAHAHA!) series to help those who want to do keto.
Promise promise promise, I’ll do the second instalment tomorrow. I want to split my posts because I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed. 🙂
